Dr. Gerianne Mulanix specializes in comprehensive medical eye care. She graduated with honors from the University of Michigan in Biology and Chemistry and received her doctorate from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Mulanix completed clinical training in specialty contact lens fitting at the Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit, ocular disease and low vision rehabilitation at the Saginaw Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center, and ocular disease co-management and pediatrics at the Illinois Eye Institute in Chicago. She also provided pre- and post-operative care alongside ophthalmology for cataract, eyelid and retina surgeries.
Dr. Mulanix recently completed a competitive, year-long residency in Hospital-Based Primary Care and Low Vision Rehabilitation at the Lexington Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center. She routinely co-managed advanced ocular diseases including diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. Dr. Mulanix also provided low vision eyecare and device training to veterans, enhancing independence and quality of life to her patients.
Dr. Mulanix recently passed a rigorous national board examination offered only to VA residency-trained optometrists in Advanced Competency in Medical Optometry and is a fellowship candidate for the American Academy of Optometry. She has also been a speaker at the University of Kentucky, providing a continuing education course for fellow optometrists in ocular disease management.
